Known Issues

I can't find my character! My character is gone.

One of the absolutely most frequent issue. There are two possible reasons for this.

You created a new character with same name as your old character.

Neverwinter Nights client will only show one character of the same name. Usually the one created earlier. If this happened to you contact DM to delete the one you don't want anymore. In future to avoid this issue:
- Do not create characters with same name. If you must, then put a space in front of the name - this will work.
- If you made a mistake and you are not happy with your character and want to start over with same name then delete your first character in Level Surgery in Loftenwood prior doing that.

Your player name changed.

Player name equals to account name on Arkhalia. You cannot change it, if you do it will act as brand new account with no characters. Also keep in mind that the player name is case sensitive. “AveragePlayer” is not the same as “averageplayer”.

If you don't remember the player name you used originally, contact DM for help. It is good to at least remember name of the character…

I can't find my item! Game stole my item.

First of all, make absolutely sure you looked for it. 99% cases the item is in different bag, persistent chest or different character inventory. And that happens even to non-drinkers somehow.

Second. Check Divining Pool in Middlebrook's Temple. If the game needs to destroy some item that belonged to player (instance destruction or server restart) it is stored there.

Now, if it isn't there. Contact DM about the issue and add as many details as possible. Character name, item type, name, stats and if you have a hunch then the action that lead to that item disappearing.

Majority of the cases the item is lost due to the NWN engine bug with swapping items from inventory to equippable slots while having full inventory. To avoid this issue, make sure to always have a 4×4 empty space in your inventory. It is actually a server rule and if you don't follow it you can't expect DMs to waste time trying to recover your lost item.

Wizards can't learn spells from scrolls.

Beamdog forgot to make sure that all spellcasting combinations works. The is a missing feature, it is currently not possible to make a spontaneous spellcasters (which we changed all casters into) with learning from scrolls.

Clerical domains aren't granting bonus spells.

Same as above. Missing functionality. It is not possible to make spontaneous spellcaster with bonus spells from domains. Domains are therefore only useful for their special ability or requirement for prestige classes.

Feats with spellcasting level requirement doesn't show at level up.

Again missing functionality related to spontaneous casters (which on Arkhalia are all of them). Prestige classes should give characters a new spells. NWN does not do this. On Arkhalia, we workaround this limitation by secondary level up GUI where you can select new spells. But NWN client does not know, that Arkhalia allows this and will not count prestige classes like Pale Master into caster level and what spell level character can cast. And that means that some feats like Epic Spellcasting which requires character to be able to cast spells of 9th level, will not be in offer in level up UI.

To workaround this you need to download this config file and put it into your NWN user folder into folder named development. If you don't have this folder in there, create it. For this file to have an effect, you need to shutdown NWN and start it again. Just relogging to server won't help.

VERY IMPORTANT!

You are supposed to level up your character and take the feat you needed to take and then shutdown the game again and remove the feat.2da file from development folder. Either delete it or rename it for example to _feat.2da (then when you need it again just rename it back). If you don't do this you might be unable to play on other NWN servers and you might get into different issues related to level up on Arkhalia.

Traps are triggering where there aren't any.

NWN bug. Cannot be 100% fixed. Arkhalia uses several methods to prevent this bug, but it still sometimes happens. You just have to live with it.

Some of the texts incorrectly appears in Czech language.

You logged into the game too soon after restart and it didn't load up all texts yet. Workaround is simple - relog.

Important placeables are stuck in opened state and cannot be used.

This is NWN bug, sometimes this happens. Most of the placeables should be coded in a way so they work despite being in this bugged state. Some, such as persistent storage chests, might not. If this happens, report on discord, DM will either make a server restart or spawns new chest.

NPCs cannot be talked to.

This is very rare NWN bug, if this happens you need to report it on discord. DM will either make a server reset or fixes the NPC. Also, if you have any idea how this happens - perhaps it was you who talked to her before she got bugged, let us know.

Spells are interrupted despite the concentration check was higher than DC.

Engine limitation. DC wraps around 127, so if the DC is higher than that it will show as DC-127. Since the DC of a concentration check is 10+damage received, this can easily be more than 127 and will then fail despite the DC shows as 25 or something. Note that the saving throw log will show *failed*.

Abundant Step not working when moving via keyboard (WASD).

Engine bug. Cannot be fixed. Stop moving via keyboard, move via mouse. Passing through NPCs effect of this feat works when moving via mouse clicks.

Favored Soul gets all weapon proficiencies / weapon focuses / weapon specializations.

Don't worry, this is just a technical limitation. Yes you do get all these feats at level up. However they will be removed after it and only the correct feats will remain.
